Okay so I see a lot of people calling the people they rp 'Muse' and I've always been a little lost as to what y'all mean by it.
I've had people use it to explain how they're kin with a character, kinda like otherkin, and I've had people use it in place of 'people I rp'. Then people say 'secondary muse' and so on.
Am I missing something? My face is confused.
Hope this wasn't rude. I've just never understood it.

It means different things to different people. I've only ever heard "muse" in an artistic sense (that is, a source for creative inspiration) before I got into the roleplaying game, but I've never had it applied to otherkin. Generally, you'll find that muse just means the character one roleplays, and that's what it's defined as in this context, though "character" or "main" works just as well.

It's an older term, you have the "muse", the character that inspires you (ie, the one you're playing), and the "mun", who is actually you. I used to read a shitton of fanfics with muse/mun conversations in the author's notes ahaha

Maybe I got into this community a little too late if it was an older term! I really only started getting to the rping community and fanfic community when I was tossed into the Homestuck fandom.

Nah the same terms get used over and over, it's just one of those things that gets picked up by everyone after a while!

Weird, being otherkin (mostly fictionkin) myself (the first one to pull a shitshow about that, I'm decapitating them), I've never seen it used in the otherkin community O:

True, true! But (also from experience) some people who are kin and claim to rp do it to like... Avoid being hated on hardcore. It's a bit sad that they're called fakes!
Also tbh I rp my kins a lot. I actually found out I was kin with a character by rping him. I got hit with a bunch of memories as we planned the rp and I was like ".... WELP". I also regularly (well not so much anymore, but I used to!) rp the characters I'm kin with, it helps with the memories.
No I'm not kin with Eridan, before someone asks about that haha...
