!! This is my jam. Although I'm personally not that good at music IRL, so going into lengthy musical descriptions isn't my forte.
Sollux: Bass player. Pretty good one, at that. By which I mean, even when I rp him as blind, he can still play. He plays a little guitar too, acoustic or electric. But he's not as good. He's probably got a keyboard in the corner of his room / respite block that he sometimes tries to jam with, and eventually just gives up.
Feferi: Ukulele player! She's got a lot of ukeleles, but her favorite and the one she uses the most is her bright fuchsia one. She loves making covers of popular pop songs.
Eridan: He sings, and plays the keytar, because it's edgy, just like him. He's also pretty damn good at Guitar Hero lmao. The only video game he can beat Sollux at.

It's like this thread was made for me....... Alright so first off I'll only be talking about Cronus b/c that guy's the only one I REALLY care about so y'know. The gist of it is that I started playing him back in 2013, at the same time I also discovered Todd in the Shadows. So I started researching 1950's music and also I just got more interested in pop music in general. So essentially during the past three years I've grown more interested in, and expanded my consumption of music, alongside playing Cronus all this time. I'll be the first one to admit that at this point mine and Cronus' taste in music is mostly the same. So anyway. First off there's obviously the greaser schtick, that's pretty self explanatory. Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc. With that out of the way; I definitely think he'd grow more interested in human music in general. We don't know a whole lot about his identity as a musician, but we can draw the conclusion that it's mainly (if not exclusively) digital. With that said, I definitely think he'd venture into post-50's pop music eventually, which is more production based. Anyone who's roleplayed with my Cronus has probably noticed that he adores Madonna and Prince. So, yeah. I still think he'd be into rock music, but probably more along the lines of Franz Ferdinand, The Hives, The Ark, Arctic Monkeys, Neon Trees etc. than anything HARD rock or metal. Le Kid is a perfect example of the kinda happy, production-heavy pop-music I think he'd adore (also the video and lyrics are pretty Cronus in this case): Other pop acts I think he'd like would be (late) Taylor Swift, George Michael, Robyn, The Supremes... As for what he does... I tend to play him as being more of a behind-the-scenes type musician, actually? Mostly because of statistics, because you're just more likely to be working as a studio musician or a songwriter or producer than a performing artist. So with that in mind I tend to give him mostly instrumental skill and less of a voice. Depending on setup (like how long he's been into humanity) I tend to give him piano and/or guitar for composing purposes, and then base for personal preference. That one's completely arbitrary, though. I tend to justify it by way of "he likes to feel important and also it's more ~special~ than guitar". If he's humanstuck I usually give him a technical/classical schooling of some sort. Also he's got "Like a Virgin" as his ringtone (and Hall & Oates' "Maneater" specially set for when Aranea call him. She's not impressed). TL;DR:"im sorry, you must not know who i am. im cronus. the music elitest. and i dont have time for talk of pop music that isnt great. i play and listen to music well. i do it with passion. and i do it correctly. this is a passion. this is a talent. and this is something i do not have shit-heads suggest for me to “hey dude do/listen to this” casually with no reasoning behind it." Madonna, Prince, and The Smiths 1950's and 1980's. Cronus Ampora and pop music are the two things I feel passionate about.

Grand Highblood: That's not singing, he's screaming and yelling, if you hear this, fucking run, the dumbass probably stubbed his toe and now he's out for blood
Dolorosa: can sing but will sometimes forget the words and awkwardly mumble until she gets to the bit she remembers
Dualscar: lmao
Handmaid: Can sing VERY well, too well, akin to a siren she'll sing to make you feel safe and then you're dead buddy

Kanaya: cannot sing. will not try to sing. she cannot hold a tune. she cannot work instruments. it stopped frustrating her a long time ago but she has no musical capacity. Aradia: very good voice, but doesn't sing much. can also plink a bit on a piano. Latula: plays guitar hero and thinks she can play the electric guitar. cannot. also cannot sing, but not as bad as kanaya. will try, though. it is dangerous. Eridan: his personality says "plays the recorder like the dinky sixth grade cape douche he is" but actually since most musical instruments hypothetically won't work underwater, he probably plays something ridiculous, if anything at all. baritone singing voice despite his speaking voice being higher for a guy. also plays guitar hero as above stated.

Kinda going along with this, I'd like to gently say that Sn0wmam, Aradia, Signless, Dolorosa, and the Disciple (though the last three could just be the religious/holy themes of the song needing vocalizations). Here are the songs you can hear them in, all in the ColoUrs of Mayhem Universe A album
Sn0wman: Your Universe Aradia: Temporal Shenanigans Signless: Iron Infidel Dolorosa: Jade Mother Disciple: Olive Scribe
That said, here are my headcanons!
Karkat: kind of off key at times, but when his voice is clear and not scratchy he's got this nice tenor going on, with a very strong voice. He's tried drums, but he banged on them so angrily they broke
Kanaya: Her voice is like a high, quiet soprano. She sounds kind of breathy when she sings, and mostly just hums instead
Feferi: I am all for Feferi having many ukeleles and singing in a kind of wavery soprano. She could very easily sing opera!! Just watch her hit those high notes man

What about a play wherein she's in a choir? I'd do it but I'm nervous regarding my understanding of musical language lmao.

livvykitty I know what you mean by canon voices, but it's... relative. I don't think Hussie ever confirmed those voices were canon, it's kind of an assumption. I mean, I only remember Temporal Shenanigans, and I'm too lazy to listen to the others right now. And while it's a beautiful voice, I really don't think it's fitting for Aradia. Shrug!

Personally, I treat voiced soundtracks and their relation to canon the same way Paradox Space is meant to be treated, on a scale of "not canon at all" to "could be canon." There is no confirmed canon outside of what's in the work itself and what the creator specifically notes as canonical, in my opinion.

rubs my filthy little hands together music headcanons are my shit okay SO i dont have many but!
VRISKA: definitely a tenor 1/contralto, with a deep throaty voice - very thick tone. shes a great singer but hates to perform willingly (ie, she does a lot of singing in the ablutions or with her door wide open). shes into thrash and screaming in general but shes also really big on anything thats melodically interesting or complex; music with lots of movement between harmonies, dissonance, and anyone with a unique voice/anyone who utilizes their voice in interesting ways immediately has her attention. shes got voice crushes on troll amy lee, troll ville valo, and troll shimon moore.
DAVE: boy im conflicted about him to be real with yall. i like both countertenor dave and superbass dave so i usually just settle with 'this boy has the vocal range of a god' and leave it at that. clear tone, great diction. hes good too, but hates to sing in front of people (much preferring to rap) mainly because its "just not his Thing". definitely has perfect pitch. as for music, he likes things that keep him guessing. math rock, song mashups, you name it. if its got a well syncopated beat or lyrics, hes immediately down. he definitely like artists that use the beat to their advantage, using sudden breaks and jamming lots of words into places you wouldnt think theyd fit so well are definitely things he likes. also likes classical choral arrangements, mainly for ear-tuning practice/working out each individual part for fun.

I don't know about instruments, but here are my voice headcanons for Dave and Rose in one handy video. i showed you this, you snake!!! anyway. damara's accent ranges from FEMM-level "this is just obtrusive enough to be cute" to "what did she just say? something about legs? eggs?" rose's is absolutely that video that i got to first. i don't know about vriska's voice, but she has the ugliest, most halloween-decorationg-sounding cackle-scream-laugh. i laugh exactly like that. well, not exactly. vriska sounds worse. AR's sounds like dirk's if it went through 5 weird synth filters, complete with ironic shitty-popping-speaker sound effects. he doesn't need to add those in. he just does. scratch's voice just kind of radiates out from the middle of his body. he's weird and gross.
