We used to use a display name vs username thing on my old forums - so my account would be under mogseltof but my display name would be "Character Name" and the profile picture was the faceclaim/fanart

mogseltof that works until someone else wants to be the same character as you on a different thread, you can use canon names all you like but that being the only option would limit who could play which character

Chair gave me an idea to have a formatting guide to edit colors and quirks of text though that could be an issue with forum colors so there's a few alternatives if formatting isn't an option.

I prefer the format of a site like MSPARP compared to Forum RP. It's so much easier for anything Homestuck based.
