If they wanted Bro to be DMAB and not specifically cis, it probably has a lot to do with the FACT that there can only be a MAXIMUM of ONE (1) SINGLE VAGINA in any given roleplay scenario. Preferably no vaginas, because ew, how icky! But what better way to ensure that my Dave is an uguuwu uke than giving him bits that are stereotypically associated with female (and thus, NATURALLY submissive) people???
This is transphobephobia and I won't stand for it.

Alright yes to this so much.
Sometimes when I see people wanting to rp trans characters they want to basically have that character have a vagina. Of course this isn't 100% of the time. There are those who want to use trans characters as angst bait (I'm 100% okay with venting, don't get me wrong. I just have some issues when cis people do it) and then actual trans people wanting to rp people like themselves. Then you always have a group of people just wanting to hypersexualize trans people.
Then there's the laziness of 'I don't know how to rp as my character if they have a dick' so they go to genderbends or trans headcanons.

im gonna loose my s hit thanks chair the uwuugu uke, christ, i dont know why i even read that prompt yeah, honestly any ooc that calls abuse "fun" is probably not worth critiquing for respectfulness regarding any topic @ all
but yeah like, i consider myself p lax about other people doin shit? like, all the things you mentioned TOTALLY piss me off but im able to just ignore em most of the time, my only issue w/ trans shit really is when it's the other rper tryin to use their trans headcanons to manipulate the other person's muse
like ie: my character is trans so urs cant be
or: my character is trans so urs needs to be the top/dominant
and yeah dont get me started on hypersexualization like, god damn, whenve i seen a prompt with a trans woman on this site that wasnt abt smut god dammnnnnn (but then idk if the writer of those prompts is cis or trans or w/e so i try not to judge, the only reason im judging the two topics i brought up is bc the person is clearly under the impression that this is just The Way Being a Trans Guy Is

"My male character is trans so it's still gay but I automatically have to play the sub and you have to be dom : ))))" is the summary of 90% of trans guy prompts on cherubplay
Because they can't be bothered with the fact anal sex needs lubrication and careful prep not just fucks the butt bc hornee
I get huge underage vibes from people who use trans dave etc as an excuse to play sub - and I hate to be That Asshole but I think it's safe to say they're cis female YAOI SHIPPERS XDD as well. Not all of them, but man... this reeks of cis female 'yaoi shippers', down to the creepy fetishization and desperation to be play the sub character.

I don't fuck with trans headcanons at all for this very reason, not with strangers on an anonymous website. Too much danger of inviting in a horde of rabid tweenagers hellbent on getting their quick n' dirty lemons.

HONEST-FUCKING-LY yes to all of this oh my fcken god??? Tbh as someone who very (very) recently picked up rping Dave I. Am scared to give him trans headcanons. Because I *refuse* to be put in the same bag as those shitholes. Nice to know that our existence, for those ppl, is reduced to oh-so-fun jack off material. Really I love it. Makes me feel so worthy as a human being.

TBFH Chairubplay + @dave Strider + @peridot (hahah oh jesus yeah no the fucking yaoi shit is too much for me) like someday i wanna write a book (scifi or fantasy) where the main characters trans bc we need, more, so many more, and we need them not to be in highschool suffering zone where transness is the Main Drama p l e a s e, and i'm using cherubplay to test + improve my skill and perspective for writing until one day i can do that (among, of course, having fun rping my favorite trashcans) and like, honestly ive been putting it off for the same reason (i dont like rping trans characters much and i kinda Dont Trust anyone else rpin them cis or trans mun doesnt matter hahahahah) but tbh putting it off has made me realize i dont fuckin know how to write about bein trans like what i hear all the time don't make it super obvious! don't talk about it often in the rp, bring it up once when headcanons are discussed, and then when they're doing the smut bc you can't pretend it awaybut it's not like anyone just throws on their binder and then theyre magically cis, like thatd be nice but being trans is, kind of nonstop, it doesnt end, i don't want to make it angst fodder or whatever obvs but there's no break, even with trans masc people who have the end goal of passing, theres calculating how much time you put in with the binder that week and if you can wear it for a few more hours, trying to spread your legs wide enough on the subway that you think you can seem cis, but without makin it so that you're taking up to much room bc you KNOW thats a jackass thing to do, theres constantly having to modulate ur voice, posturewatching, its a constant mental presence + if you bring that up in an rp with somebody who Doesnt Get It then theyre gonna think you're just trying to shove the headcanon down their throat (hell im trans and even i might think that) anyway bottom line here is, i know we knw how NOT to write abt trans characters, but the bigger question: how do we write...trans characters........... it would be easier if there were other examples to look to but there really arent that many hahaha which is why i wanna write the books in the first place, but, i dont know how, its a neverending cycle

The representation we have of trans characters in any media is honestly pathetic. The good ones are few and far between. We're normally left with the cliche trans narrative that's oversimplified. Either written by or for cis people. Trans characters are very rarely written for trans people.
Normally its a high school coming of age story. It's where the main character 'is a girl but feels like a boy!' (Often misgendering the main character) and they have to go through this journey of 'oh i hate my body and my body is awful I'll only love myself if I go though x,y,z' (surgeries, name change, clothing changes, etc) and constantly using this narrative of self hate. As if trans people can't ever love their bodies the way they are! It's also exclusionary of trans people who aren't ftm or mtf (though there's such little representation of mtf!) and are genderfluid, nonbinary, genderqueer, etc. I'm getting so sick of cis people thinking we all hate ourselves and the only way to feel better is to drastically change everything!
We are allowed to love our bodies from the start. We are allowed to go through our lives without drastic changes. The trans community is extremely diverse and with the microscope so deeply focused on one aspect of the trans narrative it's almost completely exclusionary of anyone who deviates outside this narrow margin.
So when you are trans and you don't hate your body people think you're lying. That you're faking it. Frankly, that attitude is absolutely disgusting.

Yeah, it's super hard to find good representation- and even the accurate ones don't take in account a lot of things, like cultural or religious differences!
Like for example, I would like to play humanstuck Kanaya as a Muslim trans girl. That's my headcanon for her, and yet I'm afraid that it'll immediately be taken as either angst fodder (because you know, obviously trans people have no other emotion then sadness, right?) or demonizing a religion (because from what I've read, some Muslims aren't very accepting of LGBT folk in general in addition to most of the west having a pretty bad view of Islam, which might make people assume that I'd play Kanaya's human family as 'oppressive' when no no no I do not want that).
Then there's the fact that nonbinary, agender, and genderfluid folk get no representation, so it's like??? I'm worried about what might happen if I were to play as a nonbinary Dave or bigender Rose, because I don't know if I'd get more people saying that they shouldn't be this or if someone somewhere is going to try and push me into some sort of uncomfortable rp situation, so it's like??? How can you play characters that a) everyone fetishizes or b) everyone hates to see?
I don't know if this all makes sense but there's my take on it

i've had a nap up for over a week now that's pretty specifically looking for a transguy in particular but since I'm playing a cis female i haven't had any connections and i'm salty as hell.

Why are you looking for someone who is trans specifically? Because the character is canonically trans and I'm tired of people trying to play them as cis.
