I mean, this doesn't go here really but where else in the board would it go? I can't seem to find a 'general RP commiseration' sort of sub-board.
What I'm asking with this question is stuff like 'how many RP are you comfortable running at once', 'what length of replies do you like to work with', 'how often would you ideally be responding'? Sort of what I see as the meta mechanisms of your RP experience, the nitty gritty besides all the fancy stuff like favorite character muses and narrative style and so on.
I run like... 10 something RP right now? But I'm always tempted to join more whenever I browse prompts because there are always so many that are fascinating and get my brain going! I really feel like I have to hold back and not join as many as I'd want because I do a lot of RP designed to be long-running and I might burn out or get overwhelmed if I have too many of those floating around? I don't want to put too much on my own plate when this is all supposed to be fun... but joining RPs and brainstorming stuff is also fun so AAAAAA- etc.
And I'm usually on most of my personal day, but I live in an Asian timezone so I probably appear to be MIA during peak hours for most. My hours will likely change drastically when school starts again, but who knows? Sometimes I'm also not feeling a response even if it's sitting there waiting to be answered and I'll delay some even if I have the free time to answer? I hope I'm not the only one.

i can generally run abouuuuuuuuut three? i like to respond at least a couple times a week, give or take a few, and i guess my length kind of varies! i don't really worry about length as much as "is this dynamic, does it flow, is it interesting, and does it give my partner something to respond to" although when i write multiple characters (as i've been doing a lot lately) my length tends to be a bit on the longer side.
i've done a couple runs where i get intimidated, delete all my rps, and start over. i don't know if that counts as part of my "process" but i do it enough that it probably deserves mentioning! heh
i also do the thing where i take on too many rps, and then i end up having to delete a bunch because i'm trying to work on writing a fic series and would rather devote time to that than cherubplay, haha

Right now I have around a dozen active roleplays and I don't like to exceed that number if I can help it, though for chats in general that may be inactive for whatever reason, altogether it runs me about two pages? Once I hit three, I get all antsy and everything feels cluttered and I can't concentrate on the chats I'm actually invested in.
Length-wise, I definitely enjoy detail and my responses usually range from four to six paragraphs, give or take depending upon the scene. I find it astounding how in the span of my frequenting Cherubplay (way back when it first opened [shakes old man cane]), the acceptable length I use for starting prompts has gone from a paragraph to the double digits in a snap! I don't remember how to keep things concise but it makes the rare shortform roleplay really relaxing and effortless!
When it comes to responding to RPs, I'm not nearly as active as I would like to be. The price for my solid writing skill is that it takes me forever and a day to respond properly, to the point where I specifically ask the friends that I'm currently roleplaying with not to be the least bit lenient with me and bully me in order to get things done. ("Yell at me." "What, why?" "I need to be productive, yell at me." "Umm, I think you're super and it would be a real shame if you didn't reply soon." "Terrible, just awful, thank you so much. <3")

Hello yes I like dying death and being dead and generally run as many chats as I can get my filthy hands on- currently I'm onto two pages and currently I have 10 rps that reply regularly, about 15 more that reply every once in a blue moon, and more rps in the making because I have prompts and NAPs up as we speak
Length wise? I mean, I like doing at least 3-4 paragraphs per reply, but I'm not opposed to quick little 1-2 para rps, and one I'm doing now is about 1000+ words per reply! Honestly, I just match length.
As for frequency, I tend to reply to my active ones either immediately or every other day. The most I'll let them go without a reply is a week

i like to run ~5 rps at a time, but i like to do a lot of variety! i also do long replies, just because im a sucker for giving lots to reply to, and i also enjoy that sweet character development and plot.

I tend to spend most of my time in the NAPs tag, browsing selections that seem open to alteration. I can't tend to keep my attentions on an RP that follows a strict plot, of either my or my partner's interests. I do currently have 7 threads active, some still in the planning period, some not, and tend to keep my responses below 4 paragraphs. This is of course, dependent on the partner, as I normally match, but I feel a skilled writer should be able to get their point across just as easily in one or two meaty chunks.
I do admittedly have a problem with putting rps and responses off for a while. I prod my partners, but if they don't prod me, I tend to assume they've lost interest. Woops.

Okay that's actually a good point. :0 I had always assumed prodding partners who haven't d/ced but haven't responded in a while is just unfairly pressuring them, but maybe the misunderstandings run both ways? Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks for pointing that out! It seems at least from my experience that a simple "hey, just checking in to see if you're still up for this" usually goes appreciated. I mean, i tend to limit myself to one or two notes per week though for the same reason (pressure).

too many
i have too many active roleplays
tbh i shift what types of roleplay and what franchise the roleplay should be in and what the characters i'm most interested in and maybe any ships i want to do (except for the obvious but i think that goes without saying) INCREDIBLY frequently, so i have a backlog of things to reply every time i'm feeling something different
