Who here has watched the Amazing World of Gumball? If you have, there's two characters in a really interesting kismesis- Mr. and Mrs. Robinson, the puppet couple that's been together for decades
At first, it just kind of seems like they hate each other. Mrs. Robinson even has an entire episode dedicated to the fact that she's literally evil and did shit like burning down a school, letting a child choke, and literally stealing a car and terrorizing a mall. Mr. Robinson is portrayed as a grumpy old man who argues and bickers with his wife over a lot
Then, you have the episode where Mr. Robinson stops being angry and arguing with his wife. He just... Doesn't really feel much of anything, prompting his wife to throw him out and prompting Gumball and Darwin to help him regain his anger. He wants to get back together with his wife, despite admitting that they literally argue and fight and bicker at all hours of the day. Then, he gladly pea back to her when he regains his anger and will to play malicious tricks on her.
It's so strange to watch, because you don't think that they'd really enjoy it, but then you have the episode about love, where everyone attempts to teach Bobbert about love. There's an entire segment dedicated to their marriage, and it's both hilarious and heart wrenching. Despite the fact that they both prank each other and do each other some measure of small harm that they can survive, there's just never this feeling of outright hatred. There's a part where Mrs. Robinson actually has a heart condition, prompting her to go to the hospital, and you can see how devastated her husband is. There's no dialogue throughout the entire segment, but you can feel the relief he feels when his wife is okay and even shocks him with those static things, prompting them both to torment the staff with all kinds of antics while they recover together.
They bicker and fight and hate each other, with a strong rivalry, but they never want to see the other seriously hurt. It's just such a fascinating dynamic, and I'm convinced that this is what a kismesis should be like. Idk I just had a lot of thoughts
