Okay so I have my Selkie Dave prompt up (or at the very least as up as it will stay with my shit Internet), have it filled up to the wazoo in metaphors that an immature 15 yr old would make and a fairly ic Dave I would say, and you know what I get? Two OOC Karkats
And not OOC in the angry sense- OOC in the fact that they're subdued. One said that he was shy and needed to be saved, since he was wounded in some accident, while the other one just didn't take their replies as aggressively as Karkat would
On the second one, I did send a reply back to them, and when Dave was shown being hostile over his territory and pretty suspicious of Karkat besides (because he's been told by Bro that merpeople are bad news, even if Dave himself is half mer), Karkat doesn't put up a fight. This Karkat, instead of trying to argue with Dave or flare up his gills or even show much interest, is like, "okay I'll go if you want" like what?? If Karkat were to be told by some random asshole to get out of some spot he had staked out for himself, you'd better believe that he would put up a fucking hissy fit!!!
For the love of God, don't expect Dave to be some stoic savior!! Don't expect him not to get somewhat hostile over things he's been taught his whole life! Don't! Have! Karkat!! Be SUBMISSIVE TO DAVE'S ACTIONS HOKY SHIT

There was one who was Angry Fuckass Kat who connected and gave me fucking four lines despite the fact I wrote up about 6 paragraphs, maybe 7. I don't even ask for much- at least 3 solid paragraphs. Half the length. Sigh
