I sometimes use emoticons and sometimes I don't, it really depends on the mood of the rp. I typically put 18+ on my rps, NSFW or not, (though sometimes people think NSFW= sex and no- I very rarely have sexual rps) because I feel very uncomfortable rping with those younger than me. Even then if I at all feel like they're lying then I just gun it.
There's not a way I know someones age, its just a gut feeling of 'something is up here'.

I have 'Please be 18+ even if things don't get NSFW/Shippy' on all my prompts. So if someone connects, and it comes out that they're under 18, wellll they can expect a DC. After all I'm 26. I'm kinda old.
But I also use XD unironically, and a slew of emoticons and type like 'r u there my bro' and stuff. I've actually gotten worse with typing like that as I've got older. Because tbh now-a-days I'd rather save my energy for RPing/other stuff. Gotta save those rare 'No Jointpain' days where I can.

There's a reason I have "18+ ONLY" at the top of even my SFW prompts and that reason is I am 25 years old and I'm not comfortable RPing with people under 18 years old. It has nothing to do with the maturity of a given minor; I just flat-out am not comfortable RPing with minors. If somebody lied to me about their age and I found out later, I'd be pretty upset and DC immediately.
